TB3.0b1 and ThunderBrowse

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

A few weeks ago, TB3.0b1 released and ThunderBrowse was the first addon to be capable with it (as a result of the beta build tests I do every now and then). Some of you might notice that TB3.0b1 has quite a few changes that may not make your ThunderBrowse experience as great as it was on TB2.

The first thing you might have experienced was that javascript wasn’t working in ThunderBrowse. That fact is that Thunderbird 3.0b1 denies all remote scripts (and there is currently no way to override this). Javascript is supposed to be fixed with a future nightly release of Thunderbird.

You might have also noticed that Plugins show up under the Extension manager. This means that Thunderbird now supports Plugins (which means support in ThunderBrowse). How awesome! However, you can only see them on very few websites as most sites require javascript and flash. Another downside is that links in flash content will open another browser.

Note: Youtube embeds work just fine.

If you use OpenDNS, you have probably expirenced the new security features. If you get a domain mismatch or visit a site with an invalid security certificate, you’ll see a new error page with a link to get around this. How nice. Downside is that the link is powered by javascript and thus is broken.

So hopefully this answers some of your questions about TB3.0b1 and ThunderBrowse. Enjoy the rest of 2008!

Site improvements

I’ve changed the FAQ and the Developer tabs on the main section. They show content now, instead of just redirecting to the blog.

And it’s somewhat snowing here. Yay!

Introducing: the new settings window!

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

So here’s the brand new settings window. I’ve seriously improved a lot of it. It’s much easier to use and looks much cleaner than before. But why should I tell you? Instead, look for yourself! Pictures are after the jump (click the more link).

Site Maintenance completed

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Well that was fun. FYI, any feed pausing method for wordpress actually doesn’t work with the newest version.

I’ve restored the feeds again, so all should be well.

Announcing 3.2.3

Friday, December 12th, 2008

I am doing a Senior Project for school, and ThunderBrowse is my Senior Project, starting with 3.2.3. I’ve been keeping 3.2.3 somewhat of a secret for quite some time up until now. Now I think it’s time to let you people know what’s going on.
