80k+ downloads

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

Getting closer to 100k every day (this is only data from AMO stats, I’m sure I’ve already passed 100k if I included every download site).

For awhile now, I’ve been keeping a small stats file on my desktop that I update every now and then with the latest numbers (I add TU and TB together, btw). People are still installing ThunderUpdate (sites link here still), despite my pleas not to (it will save you time not to). Seriously, stop linking to ThunderUpdate.

Here’s the data currently:

TU    +  TB    =  Total

34813+45440=80253

I don’t know what will happen when I hit 100k, maybe a bunch of people will donate (I’m really dreaming there).

TB Noscript 0.1

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

So many people asked for this, I just went ahead and made it. It’s Noscript for Thunderbird. And it’s nothing close to the Firefox version. So don’t assume it’s going to be incredibly awesome. That’s all advanced stuff that I’m not adding for free.

Since I’m not going to be personally using it, I have no interest to keep it going. Though I would probably work on it if people asked and donated (maybe).

What this does: If a website isn’t listed in the list (a space seperated list of domains found in javascript.allow.onpages), ThunderBrowse won’t run Javascript on it. To add a website, just add the domain only (ex: example.com) and ThunderBrowse will run javascript on bob.example.com, www.example.com, example.com, etc.

What it doesn’t do: Easy adding to whitelist, no statusbar stuff, no pretty images, allow js for mail, global allow js quickly.

What it’s never going to do: Run scripts individually, so that if I’m on this page, and there are scripts to run from wordpress.com, I can’t allow the scripts only from wordpress.com to run and not the ones on thunderbrowse.com.

This only works with version 3.2.1, it won’t even boot if you install in anything that is lower than that version. The reason is because of the function needed is broken in 3.2.0.9 and below.

As with TBZoom, you can’t redistribute this. You can link to this category for updates.

To install TB Noscript, click here while in ThunderBrowse.

3….2….1… BLAST OFF!

Version 3.2.1 is now available on AMO.

3.2.1 Uploaded to AMO

So some new stuff in this version:

  1. Wizard – Set up ThunderBrowse quickly and easily to your needs. HOORAH
  2. Non forcing of homepage – I won’t force your startpage to change (be sure to read the Wizard carefully though)
  3. Fixed some general coding bugs – Most of them I forgot to note in the changelog. My bad. Though it still hasn’t fixed the stupid checkboxes (I’m close to a patch [still testing])
  4. Uninstaller – If, for whatever reason, you don’t like ThunderBrowse (Inconceivable!), you can uninstall it. Everything will be removed that was used by ThunderBrowse (if you want it too). We’ll even reset your old homepage. Free!
  5. Fixed some developer function bugs. Nasty things they are

Announcing TB Noscript

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Back at the lab, TB Noscript has been coded, and is complete of the first and so far only version (it’s for advanced users only, and is not going to be supported).

Why don’t I just release it now? Because it requires ThunderBrowse version 3.2.1 or higher to function.
